Wave Type

Point break – long right-hander

Best Season

October – April

Anchor Point is widely considered the best right-hand wave in Africa and one of the most famous surf spots in the world, but it is firmly an advanced-to-expert wave. This rocky point can deliver rides up to 300–400 meters, and exits are either over the rocks or at the small beach in the corner, miss it and you can end up paddling a long way back toward Taghazout. Best with NW or W swell (1.5–3m) and light NE wind.

Tips

  • Come early for the best sets and fewer crowds
