The Taghazout Surf Coast
The coastline around Taghazout and Agadir is a surfer’s dream, with more than a dozen great spots packed into less than 100 kilometers, from mellow beach breaks perfect for beginners to legendary right-handers like Anchor Point and Banana Point. Thanks to consistent Atlantic swells and a mild climate, there’s usually surf almost all year round.
Anchor Point
Wave Type
Point break – long right-hander
Best Season
October – April
Anchor Point is widely considered the best right-hand wave in Africa and one of the most famous surf spots in the world, but it is firmly an advanced-to-expert wave. It has three main sections: the peak (mainly locals and pros), a second section ideal for advanced surfers, and a third section that stays challenging depending on swell size. This rocky point can deliver rides up to 300–400 meters, and exits are either over the rocks or at the small beach in the corner, miss it and you can end up paddling a long way back toward Taghazout. Best with NW or W swell (1.5–3m) and light NE wind.
Hash Point
Wave Type
Point break – mellow right-hander
Best Season
Year-round
Hash Point is the classic Taghazout wave for everyday surfers. It is a mellow, consistent right-hander that works on many swell sizes. Softer than Anchor Point with a friendlier take-off and longer rides over reef. Great for intermediates and for beginner-intermediates moving out of whitewater.
Panoramas
Wave Type
Beach break / reef break hybrid
Best Season
September – May
Panoramas is a powerful, versatile wave. Depending on swell and tide it can break both right and left, with punchy sets on bigger days. It can get hollow and offers great opportunities for sharp turns and floaters. The name fits thanks to sweeping coastal views.
Mysteries
Wave Type
Reef break – hollow barrels
Best Season
October – April
Mysteries is a beautiful reef break that only comes alive with the right swell, tide, and wind. In prime conditions it breaks fast and hollow over shallow reef with real barrel potential for experienced surfers. Not for beginners.
Killers
Wave Type
Point break – powerful, long right
Best Season
October – March
Killers near Boukana is an expert-only right-hander that appears in regional spot maps. It can get heavy on larger swells and is generally considered a secondary option compared with the more commonly targeted Taghazout and Aourir breaks.
La Source
Wave Type
Beach break – mellow, sandy bottom
Best Season
Year-round
La Source is an ideal beginner spot on this coastline. This mellow sandy-bottom wave breaks in a sheltered bay and offers consistent whitewater for learning the basics.

Banana Beach
Wave Type
Beach break – small, sheltered waves
Best Season
Year-round
Banana Beach focuses on the K11 and K12 peaks at Aourir Beach (Google Maps). In local naming, K-numbers (K11, K12, etc.) indicate the approximate distance from Agadir. K11 is usually the best call for true beginners, while K12 is better for beginner–intermediate surfers.
Banana Point
Wave Type
Point break – right-hander along the rocks
Best Season
October – April
Banana Point is a separate, more advanced corner on the Aourir coast, distinct from the Banana Beach K11/K12 peaks. The bottom mixes sand and rocks, the point is protected from wind, and good swells create a clean right-hander that peels along the rocks.
Spiders
Wave Type
Reef/point break – hollow right sections
Best Season
October – April
Spiders sits near the corner of Banana Point and is best for good to experienced surfers. With the right tide and swell, this wave offers fast, hollow sections and real tube-catching potential.
Boilers
Wave Type
Reef break – hollow, fast
Best Season
October – April
Boilers is a rocky reef break known for steep, hollow take-offs and fast, powerful waves. It breaks over sharp reef and works best on medium to large swell. Excellent barrel potential for experienced surfers.
Camel
Wave Type
Beach/reef mix – playful peaks
Best Season
September – April
Camel around Imi Ouaddar is a playful option with changing peaks across sand and reef sections. It is a solid progression spot on medium swell and a useful alternative when the Taghazout headline points are crowded.
Anza
Wave Type
Beach/point break – playful rights & lefts
Best Season
September – April
Anza is a fun, versatile wave zone with multiple peaks that works for beginner-intermediates through advanced surfers depending on swell size. It offers more room than the crowded headline spots and is a solid option when Taghazout points are packed.
Tamri
Wave Type
Beach break, powerful peaks
Best Season
October – April
Tamri is a wild, powerful beach break about 30 minutes north of Taghazout. The beach sits at the mouth of the Tamri river valley, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and unspoiled nature. Multiple peaks along a wide stretch of sand, far less crowded than the Taghazout lineup. Great option when other breaks are too small.

Wave Type
Bay wave (right) + Cathedral (right)
Best Season
October – April (Cathedral) / Year-round (Bay)
Imsouane is a magical fishing village north of Taghazout and home to Africa's longest wave. The Bay is a 900-meter right-hander that is mellow and consistent for all levels. Cathedral is the more powerful outside reef for advanced surfers.
